Plum is Pleased to Welcome Carla Taylor-Black, 3rd Year Midwifery Student, UBC Midwifery Program

CarlaI am thankful for the opportunity to work with the midwives and families at Plum Midwifery Clinic. I would be honoured to participate in the births and maternity care of our clients. I view birth as a normal life event. I respect the dignity and autonomy of the parent(s) in their journey through pregnancy and childbirth.

I am proud mother of a one year old, Theo, who has taught me many lessons that I will carry with me as I enter into my third year. Motherhood has brought me great joy, insight and humility. As a student, I have had the pleasure of working in midwifery clinics in Vancouver, Campbell River, with maternity care providers in Haida Gwaii and as a volunteer birth Doula for teen moms in Nova Scotia and on Fir Square in Vancouver. I also have training in lactation support and a personal interest holistic health remedies.

I grew up in the Comox Valley and I am excited to return home to work with families in a rural setting. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, swimming, speaking Spanish and playing with my family! I look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey through pregnancy and birth.
