Welcome Lindsay Wells, 4th-Year Midwifery Student, UBC Midwifery Program

We are pleased to welcome Lindsay Wells, a fourth-year midwifery student from the UBC Midwifery Program. Lindsay will be working alongside our midwives from mid-September 2019 until mid-April 2020, and will be present at most prenatal visits, labours, births and postpartum visits. We hope you will welcome Lindsay into your care to help provide this opportunity for the growth of midwifery in our province. To learn a bit more about Lindsay, please read her bio below…

My family and I have moved here from Qualicum and we are happy to have landed in the Comox Valley near family & friends for my final midwifery placement! I am grateful to be involved in your care and thank you for sharing your time with me.

My initial experiences supporting people during pregnancy and birth were potent and they weaved me onto the path of midwifery. During my midwifery education, I’ve had the privilege of working with families in Victoria, Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum & Port Alberni. Witnessing the transformation of people to parents continues to inspire me.

Prior to midwifery, my professional background in the health and wellness field spans a decade. I have a degree in recreation and health education from the University of Victoria.  For a number of years, I worked in the cancer and HIV communities in Vancouver developing programs in complementary and alternative healthcare. I also have experience teaching yoga, managing programs for children and youth, providing leadership in the disability community, and supporting people in a palliative care setting.

In my spare moments, you’ll find me in the forest or near the ocean with my partner and our 2-1/2 year old sweetheart.
