ABOUT PLUM MIDWIFERY

We provide comprehensive pregnancy, birth and postpartum care in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, BC. We believe this is a transformative time in a person's life and aim to provide evidence-based, holistic care that addresses and respects your physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs.

SERVICES PROVIDED AT PLUM MIDWIFERY
  • Individual prenatal care including all standard screening if desired

  • Group prenatal care (optional)

  • Specialist referrals as needed for you or your baby

  • Attendance at your active labour and birth in your preferred location

  • Postpartum care in your home for the first 1-2 weeks after birth

  • Postpartum group with community speakers 

  • Hands-on breastfeeding support and advice

  • Hormonal contraception including IUD/IUS and STI treatment if required 

ABOUT BC MIDWIVES

In British Columbia, midwives are primary caregivers working in community-based practices. We provide family-centered maternity and newborn care and are an established part of the BC health care system. Services are fully funded with your BC Care Card.
 

The midwifery philosophy and model of care is based on the following pillars: informed choice, continuity of care, choice of birth setting and collaboration with other health professionals.
